Riding under Yellow Flags (Rule 18.3)
The yellow flag rule clearly states that if a motionless yellow flag is shown, the rider must ride with caution maintain position and be prepared to stop. If the flag is waived the rider must ride with extreme caution, be prepared to stop and not overtake anyone.
On Monday at Kings Lynn this rule was clearly not being adhered to and a very serious accident was only narrowly avoided. We had numerous complaints from marshals that riders were paying no heed to the yellow flag.
I will remind you that the Clerk of the Course not only has the power to penalise a rider for overtaking on a yellow flag but also for riding dangerously. Although I appreciate that this is an adrenalin driven sport and everyone has a different idea of what is dangerous. This sport is dangerous enough without you making it worse and when that danger affects an official of the meeting it is totally unacceptable and without these officials there can be no meetings.
BE WARNED WE WILL PENALISE RIDING THAT IS CONSIDERED DANGEROUS
